Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold have beaten Hearts of Oak in the battle to land exciting Ghana Premier League winger Ibrahim Salifu.
Salifu, dubbed Di Maria, has just 6 months left on his running contract with Techiman-based XI Wonders who are struggling to tie him down to another deal, Sunyani-based Nimdee FM have reported.
The 20-year-old forward has been rated as the most exciting winger on the Ghanaian domestic scene and has courted the interest of big stellar clubs including Hearts of Oak and Aduana Stars.
AshantiGold entered the race and assured the youngster of offering him a new experience of continental football with top officials at the Len Clay reportedly engaging the player and his representatives.
Meanwhile Hearts of Oak were the first club to declare their interest in the winger as they sought to sign him to operate the other side of the wings along with Ivorian Eric Dizan.
However reports carried by Nimdee FM on Friday claim the Miners have beaten Hearts of Oak to the signature of the player. Salifu is expected to join AshantiGold as a free agent after seeing out his contract with the Wonders club.
