Ghanaian central defender Benjamin Agyare, who has recently been released by Ghanaian club Hearts of Oak, claims he has qualities similar to Paris Saint-Germain star Thiago Silva.
Agyare, 26, was released by the former African champions on Friday along with 4 other players for varied sporting reasons.
The tough-tackling dreadlock-wearing defender joined the 2004 CAF Confederation Cup winners in 2018 from second-tier side Kpando Heart of Lions but failed to impress after suffering a motor accident.
Hearts took the decision to cut ties with him after securing the services of former Alanyaspor defender Nuru Suley on a free transfer.
Agyare has extoled his qualities and has even gone ahead to compare himself to the former Brazil captain and said he will even play to his level.
“My role model is Thiago Silva. What he’s doing I can do more than he does. His airballs, how he tackles, how he passes the ball and his confidence,” he told Accra-based Asempa FM.
He continued: “Hearts of Oak have just lost the next Thiago Silva. I’m sure with God, I’ll play like him,” he concluded.
The defender, who sparingly featured for the Phobians in the cancelled 2019/20 season, disclosed that he dreams of playing for German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund before he hangs his boots.
“My dream team I want to play for is Borussia Dortmund. I love everything about them and even if I play for them for just one day, I’ll be happy,” he disclosed.
Meanwhile he is looking forward to causing an upset by moving to the Phobians bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko.
“In Ghana, any team that offers me a contract I’m ready to play for them and the Thiago Silva will come. I’m looking for work if Kotoko offer me a contract I’ll accept to play for them,” he revealed.
Other players who were released by Hearts of Oak along with Agyare include striker Joseph Esso, Bernard Arthur, Christopher Bonney and Burkina Faso forward Abubakar Traore.
