Asante Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah is set to name popular Menzgold lawyer Kwame Akuffo as the head of the club’s legal department, according to widespread local media reports.
The astute legal practitioner has already been engaged by the former Phar Rangers President to head the club’s legal department as his management team takes shape.
Akuffo esq. shot to prominence in Ghana when the Ghanaian publicly discovered that he was the lawyer for the defunct controversial gold-dealership firm Menzgold Ghana Limited.
In a December 2019 move that shot up his credibility within the public’s eye and saw his stocks gain a significant rise the enterprising lawyer distant himself and his law firm from a payment procedure announced by Menzgold Ghana Limited. Menzgold claimed: “Claims shall be settled in full and shall be subject to an invitation from our legal team; Kwame Akuffo & Co. Unlimited, strictly following the below indicated scheduled hierarchical order, all to be settled within 36 months starting from December 2019.”
The move led to most Ghanaians viewing Akuffo and his law firm with an eye of credibility.
If his appointment is confirmed by the club he will now occupy the office which has been previously headed by Lawyer Yaw Boafo and Sarfo Duku.
Meanwhile Nana Yaw Amponsah continues to shape up his Kotoko management team with various individuals linked to different roles at the club.
Former Bofoakwa Tano General Manager David Obeng Nyarko, former broadcast journalist Moses Antwi Benefo, Thomas Boakye Agyemang, Nana Gyambibi have all been reportedly slated for positions in the yet to be named management team.
