Ghanaian winger Solomon Asante was in splendid form as he scored to help Phoenix Rising secure a 3-1 home win over El Paso in the USL Championship on Saturday night.
The 30-year-old put his name on the scoresheet on the 36th minute mark when he beautifully connected a pass from Azerbaijan Rufat Dadashov around the edge of the box before rattling the net with a well-taken drive.
El Paso Lokomotive, a Texas-based side, had taken an early lead at the Casino Arizona Field Tempe in Arizona through Mexican Aaron Gomez but Asante’s Rising immediately responded and hit back 5 minutes later through a penalty kick converted by Dadashov.
Saturday night’s goal means Asante has now bagged 3 goals since the resumption of the USL Championship but 4 goals in total of 5 appearances. He has scored a total of 40 league goals in 75 appearances since joining Phoenix in 2018 from DR Congo side TP Mazembe.
Meanwhile Phoenix Rising have climbed to 2nd spot on the log with the latest win.
