Ghanaian midfielder Winful Cobbina will now come face to face with his countryman Richmond Boakye-Yiadom in the next round of the UEFA Champions League preliminary stage.
The 28-year-old was in full time action for Albanian side KF Tirana as they claimed a 2-0 away win over Georgian side FC Dinamo Tbilisi on Wednesday evening.
Thanks to this result, they will lock horns with Red Star Belgrade in the second qualifying round on August 26. The Serbian SuperLiga side that defeated FC Europa from Gibraltar 5-0 in their first qualifier boasts Gabon’s Guelor Kanga, Ghana’s Richmond Boakye, Comoros’ El Fardou Ben and Cote d’Ivoire’s Sekou Sanogo in their ranks.
While this season is Cobbina’s debut appearance in the European top-tier club competition Boakye has featured in several games for Red Star including facing top clubs like PSG.
