Ghana’s Youth and Sports Minister Hon. Isaac Asiamah has revealed that the Ghanaian government is constructing a state-of-the-art multi-purpose sports complex in New Edubiase to better serve sports development in the region.
The visionary sports minister did not prevaricate during his exclusive interview with Patrick Osei Agyemang, popularly known as Countryman Songo, as he revealed details about remodeling and redesigning works which has been completed already at the theoretical level.
Government is a continuum and the NPP-led government has taken over the construction of the New Edubiase stadium which was started by the previous government in the capital of Adansi South, a district in the Ashanti region.
In a diabolical manners officials of the previous NDC government have accused the current government of abandoning the project to the detriment of sports development in the country.
Meanwhile the sector minister has sharply watered down the false speculations and revealed the government had to engage in remodeling and redesigning of the original plan which was touted by the previous government.
“The previous design and look was not useful for purpose. So when we took over we had to remodel and redesign the New Edubiase stadium to become fit for purpose. All the measurement and size of the initial plan by the previous government was wrong and it was not fit for purpose. Interestingly while Nii Lante Vanderpuije was out there granting interview about the state of the Edubiase stadium contractors were on site working base on our designed and remodeled plans,” he told Patrick Osei Agyemang on Fire 4 Fire show.
Asiamah’s impressive work in the sector has seen him hold down his place as the country’s sports minister and avoided the perennial reshuffling that is mostly seen at the ministry across various governance continuum.
Since assuming the office as the head of the ministry in 2017 Asiamah’s vision and perseverance has been him herald the construction of the historic ultra-modern sports complexes across 10 regions in the West African nation.
Asiamah is gunning for re-election as Member of Parliament of Atwima Mponua constituency in the 2020 Ghanaian general elections.
