Middlesbrough are pushing to complete the signing of Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman.
The Championship side are keen to formalize a loan deal with the left-back before the domestic deadline on Friday.
Rahman remains an “outcast” at Chelsea after he was left out of the seasonal squad by Frank Lampard.
Lampard is not ready to work with the 26-year-old who returned from a loan stint at Spanish Club Real Mallorca.
The player was expected to make a move before the transfer window was shut last week.
With less than 24 hours to the end of the domestic transfer window, Middlesbrough looks favorite to sign the Ghana star ahead of Watford and Derby County.
Joined Chelsea in 2014 from German side Augsburg, the defender has only managed to make 23 appearances for the blues spending most of his years at the Club on loan at Schalke O4, Stade Riems and just recently Real Mallorca.
