President Akufo-Addo has approved for the refund of $45,000 to former Ghanaian boxer David Kotei.

The state owed the former World Champion the said amount they borrowed years ago.

David Kotei, popular known as DK Poison has since been pushing for the money to be refunded but to no avail.

Following the intervention of the Sports Ministry, a petition was made for the money to be given back to the retired boxer.

Government have hence ordered the Finance Ministry to pay the money to the ex-National star.

“With Reference to your letter No. VF.89/215/01E dated 17th June, 2020, I write to convey the approval of the President of the Republic for an amount of Forty-Five Thousand United Dollars ( US$45,000) to be paid Mr. David Kotei (a.k.a D.K Poison) on compassionate grounds.

“By a copy of this letter, the Ministry of Finance is requested to take the necessary action to give effect to their directive.

“Please accept the President’s best wishes.
