Experienced striker Emmanuel Clottey could face Ghana FA action after he took off his jersey and brandished it at the Kotoko bench before hauling it them following his last-gasp equaliser for Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.
The 33-year-old curled home a free kick in the dying embers of the game to salvage a point for the Blues at the Golden City Park in a fiercely contested battle.
FA cameras captured the former Esperance de Tunis frontman take off his jersey before hauling it at the Kotoko bench in a show of what has been described as impudence and unsportsmanlike conduct.
Clottey could be hauled before the FA’s disciplinary wing and cop a sanction if the action is reviewed by the match review panel.
In the striker’s reaction in the post match interview he stated that his emotions got the better part of him as he wildly celebrated the goal.
“”I was really happy for scoring against Kotoko. I was overjoyed and unfortunately I pulled off my shirt. I didn’t intend to disrespect Kotoko by throwing my shirt at the Kotoko technical area. I really apologize if Kotoko team and fans are offended am really sorry,” he is quoted as saying in an interview.
Kotoko took the lead through striker Kwame Poku in the first half. The former Nkoranza Warriors forward has now scored in both of his opening two games in the league for Kotoko.
