Bechem United have reached the summit of the Ghana Premier League table at the expense of Karela United after brushing them aside 2-1 at the Nana Ansu Gyeabour Park on Friday afternoon.
Though the Hunters are on equal point terms with Karela they have gone above them with superior head-to-head advantage.
The intent and determination was apparent right from the start of the game as either side remained unprepared to succumb to defeat.
The intent and ambition of the two sides characterised the first stanza of the game as it ended in a goalless stalemate.
However it was Bechem who drew first blood just a minute after the interval as Steven Owusu elected himself to plant a firm strike into the net of on-loan Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Baidoo.
But, celebrations lasted for just 10 minutes as Diawisie Taylor grabbed leveller for Karela with a admirable precision in front of goal.
The tie appeared as though it was heading for a 1-1 draw until Listowell Amankona snatched victory for the Hunters with a last-gasp finish.
