Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Elvis Manu ended his participation in this season’s UEFA Europa League by scoring the consolation goal for Ludogorets in their 3-1 home reverse against Austrian side LASK Linz on Thursday night.
Manu, 27, brazed the trail for the hosts when he opened the scoring account of the game on the 46th minute mark but the visitors turned the tables and disciplined them at their own backyard.
The former Feyenoord Rotterdam and Brighton forward had to drop deep into the middle to pick a pass. He then employed his pace to beat two markers to set up Romanian Claudiu Keseru who returned the pass to him to finish. The cross from Keseru was incisive and sharp as Manu applied a fierce volley to meet it and convert for his fourth goal of the competition.
In the end Ludogorets suffered defeat and thus registered their 6th loss of the competition which gives them an unwanted record in the competition.
Manu signed for the Bulgarians from Chinese side Beijing Renhe and has contributed significantly to their season both domestically and in Europe though their European participation has ended rather bizarrely.
