REVEALED: Why Nana Yaw Amponsah sacked Maxwell Konadu

It has been revealed that Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah championed the campaign for the sacking of Maxwell Konadu as a measure to halt the slide at the club.

The former Ghana international made a second return to the club in December 2019 after replacing Norwegian Kjetil Zacharriassen.

CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah felt Kotoko were not playing to his expectations which ultimately did not play into the scope of his vision and ambition at the club.

After 21 times as head coach at the club Kotoko won 9 games, lost 5 and drew 7. But, since Nana Yaw’s appointment Kotoko have won just 1 game, drawn 3 and lost 1.

The straw that broke the camel’s back finally came when Great Olympics outclassed and outplayed Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium in a match day 3 fixture of the Ghana Premier League.
