Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah has rang the wife of Maxwell Konadu in a bid to persuade the former Ghana Premier League title winner to return to the club in his old capacity, according to Sunyani-based Nimdee FM.

This could mean the former Phar Rangers President is not convinced with the output of the current technical team composed of Johnson Smith and Abdullahi Gazelle.

Amponsah single-handedly took the decision to sack Konadu as head coach of the Porcupine Warriors on December 18, 2020, a day after the club suffered a painful 1-0 loss to Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The decision to part ways with the former Black Stars B head coach sharply divided opinions at the club with the club’s top hierarchy insisting they were not contacted on the decision on whether to lay off the coach.

According to a section of the media Amponsah was tasked to reappoint Konadu to the head coach role and he has been employing all strategic means to convince Konadu to return to the club as head coach.

According to Sunyani-based Nimdee FM, Amponsah telephoned Konadu’s wife whose name has been revealed as Linda to try and convince her to accept the challenge of persuading her husband to return to the club and assume his role as the head coach of the club.

However the move hit a snag as Konadu openly rejected the move and insisted he is not ready to return to the club after he was relieved off his duties as head coach just a little over a month ago.

Kotoko have not been able to name a head coach since sacking Konadu as Johnson Smith – who is without a CAF License A certificate is unable to perform his role at international while Kotoko have a deadline to meet by the Ghana FA in naming a permanent head coach.

It is rumoured that Kotoko could be looking to the international market to hire the services of a white witch doctor.
