Berekum Chelsea squeezed a vital point from Elmina Sharks after managing a 1-1 drawn game at the Nduom Sports Complex in Monday’s only kick off in the Ghana Premier League.
Chelsea couldn’t have afforded to drop all points from the game as they appeared trapped in the drop zone for some weeks.
Sharks themselves are not in a comfortable place on the league log as they are just 3 points above the drop zone and head coach Yaw Acheampong urged his side on to victory.
But, he went into the game without influential winger Benjamin Tweneboah whose contract has run out and is now a free agent.
The experienced James Bissue fired Sharks into the lead on the 27th minute. For Bissue, who is vastly experienced on the local front, has now scored 4 goals in his 8 games this season.
However Stephen Sarfo fired home the equaliser just 4 minutes after the opener to grab a share of the spoils for the visitors
The draw has lifted Chelsea to 14 points and out of the relegation zone but their 13th position on the chart is largely due to their superior goal aggregate as Liberty Professionals, XI Wonders and Legon Cities FC are all on the same number of points.
Alhaji Mustapha was voted the Most Valuable Player of the match.
