Ghana’s Benjamin Azamati has set up a new National record after making a time of 9.97s at the Texas Relays.

The Young Athlete broke the record held by former Ghana sprinter Leonard Myles-Miles in the last 22 years.

Myles-Miles, former Ghana Olympian held the record since 1999.

The former student of the University of Ghana also broke Darell Green’s record set in 1983, going on to make his personal best.

The time thus make him only the third Ghanaian to book a ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after Joseph Paul Amoah and Nadia Eke.

At 23, the 2019 Ghana’s fastest man and Africa Games Gold winner has already written his name in history books.
