Ghanaian veteran trainer J.E. Sarpong has made a sensational claim on radio by insisting that top brass of the Ghana Football Association has hatched a plan to sack Charles Akonnor as head coach of the Ghana senior national team.
Sarpong, former Ghana U23, U20, and Black Stars assistant coach, has been reacting to media speculations that regarding imposition of players on the head coach of the Black Stars.
According to reports by renowned sports broadcaster Dan Kwaku Yeboah and other reputable media outlets reported cases of players being imposed on the former Wolfsburg captain.
Kwaku Yeboah revealed that Akonnor submitted a list of 26 players to the Ghana FA but the football regulatory body rather announced a squad of 29.
The telemundo around the call up has charged coach Sarpong to open a can of worms about the intent of the Ghana FA towards coach Akonnor.
“There has already been a plan in place to sack C K Akonnor so I’m not surprised about what is happening to him. He should open his eyes and see things clearly,” he told Peace FM.
According to sources Akonnor has not been paid his salary for almost 12 months now.
