Players of the Ghana National Rugby team are calling on President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, Herbert Mensah to stay on as the Association’s head.
There have been “unjustifiable” calls from a section of the Ghana Rugby Union Players Association (GRUPA) to have the astute Sports administrator relinquish his position.
The Group (Ghana Rugby Union Players Association) made series of allegation against the former Kotoko CEO however failed to back with evidence.
Mensah was accused of being autocratic among several other allegations who was leveled against him by a petition which was signed by players from a particular ring (Central Region).
Despite the “attempted agenda” set against the President, players of the National team have thrown their weight behind their leader insisting they want him stay in power.
“GRUPA’s petition is ridiculous and the allegations are unfounded. Herbert Mensah is the best man for the job. He has done a lot for Ghana Rugby and his legacy will remain forever. Without him, there’s no future for the sports,” Yaya Lukman, member of the National team spoke to the media.
In addition team manager of the Ghana Rugby National team Salisu Abdul Rahman also expressed disappointment in the action from some of his colleagues.
“If GRUPA doesn’t want Hebert Mensah as Ghana Rugby President, who can be as good as him?”, he quizzed.
“I am very much disappointment in their attempt to push him out of office for nothing, this man has been so good to the Ghana Rugby Union since he came and each and every player can testify to that.”
Meanwhile checks made by Ghanasportsonline.com indicates Herbert Mensah since he took office has been able to house several Rugby Players and also catered for their needs one way or the other.
