Ghana international Daniel Amartey could land himself in hot waters after being caught on video throwing Chelsea’s FA Cup pennant on the floor in wild triumphant jubilation.
The 26-year-old former Inter Allies defender was an unused substitute as the Foxes claimed the crucial win over the Blues at Wembley thanks to a Youri Tielemans second-half strike in a game that saw 21,000 fans return to the stadium.
Amartey’s behaviour has been greeted by widespread condemnation on social media after the video which was cropped from Instagram Live went viral.
While the recording was ongoing Amartey picked the pennant and hauled it away in a way that has been described as disrespectful towards the Blues.
It is the club’s first ever FA Cup triumph and Amartey’s second silverware since he joined the club from Danish side FC Copenhagen and some of the Leicester players appeared to have gotten a little carried away with their celebrations.
After collecting their medals and the trophy on the pitch, the players and staff made their way to the changing rooms, where defender Wesley Fofana broadcasted the scenes to all of his followers on Instagram Live.
While recording, Amartey was seen picking up the Chelsea pennant, showing it to the camera before chucking it over his head and behind him onto the floor.
Fofana, who played the full 90 minutes against Chelsea, then flipped the camera and burst into laughter before cutting the video.
Amartey could face action from the FA over his post match conduct.
He has been named by Ghana head coach Charles Akonnor for the upcoming international friendlies against Ivory Coast and Morocco.
