French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais have entered the race to sign Ghana international defender Benson Anang, according to sources close to the player.
Anang, 21, is capped once by Ghana at senior level and has received three call ups from Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor. He made his Ghana debut in a 5-1 win over Qatar last October.
Rennais, who recently completed the signing of offensive midfielder Kamaldeen Sulemana from Nordsjaelland, have identified the MSK Zilina player as one of the hottest prospects in Eastern Europe.
However they are not the only club interested in capturing the fleet-footed right-back as Belgian side Royal Antwerp have also earmarked the talented pocket-size defender.
Anang is cast in the mold of Brighton youngster Tariqe Lamptey and offers more maturity on the ball as he effectively combines defensive and offensive duties to meet the expectations of a modern wing-half.
The right-back, who is on the books of Slovakian side MSK Zilina, has been impressive for the Fortuna Liga club in their maiden campaign in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
The former New Life FC defender has completed 270 minutes in 3 games for Zilina and his show for the Žlto-Zelení has attracted interest from Celtic who want to re-establish their domestic dominance after losing out on the title challenge to Rangers last term.
Scottish giants Celtic have also shown interest in the defender as the Glasgow giants view him as a perfect replacement for Dutch-Ghanaian Jeremie Frimpong who left the club last season for Bayer Leverkusen.
