Ghanaian teenagers Osman Haqi and Philip Gameli made their debuts in the Turkish top-flight league for Yeni Malatyaspor on Monday evening.
The pair gatecrashed the first team squad of the Yellow and Blacks just six months after joining the Super Lig club from Ghanaian second-tier side Okyeman Planners bankrolled by former Ghana FA Vice President George Afriyie.
Haqi and Gameli were introduced into the game at the same time on the 70th minute mark as they replaced Benjamin Tetteh and Karim Hafez at the Yeni Malatya Stadyumu.
Haqi, who was rated 6.8 for the 20 minutes he lasted on the field, assisted twice for Burundi midfielder Jospin Nshimirimana and captain Adem Buyuk but both goals were ruled out for offside.
The pair’s impact in the game Malatyaspor lost 5-1 was overly impressive and manager Irfan Buz is expected to hand them more playing minutes.
