Ghanaian boxer Bastir Samir has revealed he played various roles in helping undefeated former world champion Floyd Mayweather beat Mexican Canelo Alvarez and Argentine Marcos Maidana during his heydays.
Mayweather, 50 wins – 27 by way of KOs, defeated Alvarez with a majority decision in a 12-rounder on September 14, 2013, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Paradise, Nevada, U.S, and defeated Marcos Maidana back to back in separate bouts in the USA.
Samir, who competed for Ghana at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China, has revealed helping Mayweather during his preparations for the three fights.
“Yes. I met Mayweather and I was sparing with him ahead of the bouts with Canelo Alvarez and the back-to-back fights with Marcos Maidana.
Samir, whose popularity in Ghana skyrocketed following his famous victory over loudmouth Braimah Kamoko, has been training under the legendary Ghanaian trainer since he broke into the limelight.
