Jonathan Giovannoni, 18, emerged the bronze winner at the 2021 World Food Championships.
Giovannoni has enjoyed success at the world’s largest food sports event.
But, his rise to success at the global event has a miraculous beginning from his formative age in Canada.
According to renowned Ghanaian broadcast journalist Enoch Worlanyo, who is popularly known in Ghanaian circles as Prof. Wallace, Giovannoni’s mother offer unflinching backing to him throughout the competition.
But the touching story of the young Canadian is found in his ability to survive and keep his hopes of winning the war against a brain tumour alive.
Jonathan Giovannoni of Spruce Grove takes every day as a learning experience. At the age of 5, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and after undergoing treatments which stretched out over 72 weeks, Jonathan was left very weak.
He found himself in a place where he has spent a lot of time – in the kitchen. With his father as his mentor, Jonathan quickly fell in love with cooking. Now as a teenager, he has already launched a successful food-based career and is giving back to the community.
His mother Alina Giovannoni, whose faith has remained an unwavering shoulder of support for her teenage son, believes her son is one of the world’s youngest chefs. Alina doesn’t cook herself but enjoys eating everything cooked by her son.
