Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac has handed call-ups to Moldova-based midfielder Edmund Addo and forward Richmond Boakye-Yiadom for the next lapse of qualifiers in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, according to reports by Ghanasoccernet.com.
Addo, 21, has starred in the UEFA Champions League for Sheriff Tiraspol as he impressed against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in late September.
He was reportedly handed a late call-up for last month’s double-header against Zimbabwe but his club refused to allow him to join the West African powerhouse due to failure to meet FIFA’s mandatory timelines.
Rejavac met with the midfielder in Italy and held successful discussions with him leading to his eventual decision to make him in his squad for the games.
Meanwhile, Israeli-based forward Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, who has already been capped 14 times by Ghana at senior level has been handed an invitation by the Serbian who watched him feature for his native club Red Star Belgrade countless times.
Boakye, who currently plays for Israeli Premier League club Beitar Jerusalem, has scored 2 goals and provided an assist in 7 games for the Yellow and Blacks so far this season.
He has scored 6 goals in 14 appearances for Ghana at the senior level.
