Debutants Accra Lions held Elmina Sharks to a scoring draw game in the opening match of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.
Lions scored 9 minutes from full-time to earn their very first point in the premiership through Rauf Salifu after Michelle Sarpong have given the Sharks the lead in the 65th minute.
Asante Kotoko had to live it late to beat Dreams FC 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday 30th October 2021.
Youngster Fatawu Issahaku scored his Premier League debut goal for Dreams FC with a historic performance but wasn’t enough to grab all three points as Mudasiru Salifu had the equalizer in the 85th minute for the Porcupines, Isaac Oppong and Richmond Lamptey later made it three for the Porcupines in the 89th and 91st minutes respectively.
The Phobians, having dropped from the CAF champions league to the CAF Confederations Cup were hoping to kick off their season with a win at their own turf, but unfortunately, the Ghana Premier League title defense began with a goalless draw against Legon Cities.
Although Hearts of Oak went into the game as the favourites, they could not find a way past the resolute team sent out by the head coach of the opponent, Maxwell Konadu, who have never lost a premier league game to the Phobians.
