Portions of his citation read: “You have led a team of like-minded professionals to build Ghana’s only and dedicated Television Sports Channel, (GTV Sports+) into a major Sports brand. And in the last year when the media industry was down because of the Covid-19 pandemic, you created a concept, TIME WITH OUR CAPTAINS and even amidst your demanding managerial role at the state broadcaster, you made time to produce the programme yourself. This gave the TV audience in Ghana the opportunity to witness one of the most captivating TV interview programmes with arguably Ghana best footballer, the maestro Abedi Pele. It was a five and a half hours epic programme that trended on social media for far over 4 weeks. You have always preferred to be behind the scene but your works have been impactful. You have shown a level of dedication to Ghana’s Football industry, and that is worthy of recognition.
Lomotey, who has been the big brain behind GTV Sports+ and other Ghana Broadcasting Corporation channels’ modern evolution and fresh breeze of corporate dynamism, has been lauded for his unmatched contribution towards improved television coverage at the state-owned national broadcaster.
Since his recent ascension to the office of the Deputy of Director of Television at the state broadcaster, Lomotey has led several innovative moves to uplift the channels’ appreciation of digitisation aimed at boosting national confidence in the service.
Meanwhile, GTVSports+ beat off fierce competition from Max TV and Adepa TV to emerge as the Soccer Media Station in the television category.
Gloria Peprah, the host of the Breakfast show on GTV Sports+, picked the Soccer Media Personality of the Year award while Benjamin Willie Graham also picked up the award of the best commentator of the year.
