Ghana’s Black Stars were left stunned by a late Jim Allevinah strike from inside the box as the Panthers snatched a share of the spoils late into the 2021 AFCON Group C clash in Yaounde on Friday night.

Andre Ayew, captain of the Ghanaian side, fired a thunderous left-footed effort that sailed unstoppably into Jean Amonome’s net on the 18th-minute mark. But, Gabon, with hundreds of fans at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo, struck back late into the game through Clermont Foot midfielder Jim Allevinah.

Ghanasportsonline.com editor El Akyereko runs the rule over the performance of the Black Stars players on Friday night.

Joseph Wollacott – 5.97/10

He made a couple of early saves. He touched the ball 35 times during the course of the game but he had 55.6 percent passing accuracy according to Whoscored.com rating.

Andy Yiadom – 6.30/10

The Reading man kept the line with diligence as he patrolled the area Aaron Boupendza was seeking to exploit. But, in the second-half he had a difficult time dealing with Obiang.

Baba Rahman – 5.5/10

Zero shots, Zero shots on target, and zero key passes in the game – a clearer summary of the game for the Reading left-back. Though the Chelsea player provided solidity in defence he added nothing offensively to the Ghana team. He touched the ball 58 times and his passing accuracy was 71.4 percent.

Daniel Amartey – 6.90/10

Impress throughout the game as he made crucial blocks, won a series of aerial duels, and was impressive throughout the game. He had a passing accuracy of 91.7 percent – the highest by any player on the field of play.

Alexander Djiku – 6.50/10

He read the backline really well. He stayed in the picture throughout the early stages as he blocked a goal-bound ball. Generally had a good game as he formed a good partnership with Amartey. He touched the ball 63 times and had a passing accuracy of 67.3 percent.

Baba Iddrisu Mohammed – 6.70/10

The Real Mallorca man suffered an injury and had to be replaced on the 64th-minute mark by Joseph Painstil. Before he was forced off by injury, the central midfielder had formed a good partnership with Partey and was brilliantly switching between offensive and defensive roles in the middle. He was 3 ground duels, had 40 touches of the ball, and with a passing accuracy of 79.3 percent.

Thomas Partey – 6.60/10

Ghana’s opening goal arrived through a well-calibrated pass from the Arsenal man that broke the defensive lines of the Panthers. The central midfielder won 1 duel, had 1 shot, and gave 2 key passes. Partey got 46 touches of the ball in the middle and had a passing accuracy of 78.1 percent.

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh – 6.67/10

The St Pauli man came into the picture on the 17th-minute mark when he swerved his marker with a sweet left turn before offloading a dreaded low drive. However, that was his only shot in the game. He was initially deployed as a No.10 but had to play deep in midfield with Edmund Addo following Iddrisu’s substitution and Partey was shifted further up. 84.6 passing accuracy – the second-highest by any Ghanaian player on the field.

Jordan Ayew – 6.95/10

On the 14th minute mark, he escaped his marker on the right with a swift speed before tossing in a dangerous cross that nearly beat the Gabonese keeper. Following that incident, the Crystal Palace forward motored through the game with his impressive and workaholic runs. 1 shot, 1 key pass, and 81.3 percent passing accuracy.

Andre Ayew – 7.10/10

The Ghana captain scored a cracking opener for the Black Stars when he turned his marker before unleashing a tantalising drive to beat the Panthers keeper. The former Swansea City talisman had two shots, 1 on target, and got Ghana’s only goal. He won 3 duels and had 61.9 percent passing accuracy. By far Ghana’s best performer on the night.

Kamaldeen Sulemana – 5.10/10

Zero shots, Zero shots on target, and zero key passes in the game – the Stade Rennais man was shackled by the high-energy play of the Gabonese. He touched the ball just 19 times during the course of the game and had a woeful passing accuracy of 62.5 percent – the second-lowest by any Ghanaian player on the field of play. The 19-year-old was replaced on the hour mark by Edmund Addo.

SUBSTITUTES

Edmund Addo – 5.7/10, Joseph Painstil – 5.5/10, Benjamin Tetteh – 4.9/10, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku – 5.80/10
