Bechem United applied the brakes on Hearts of Oak after holding the Phobians to a 0-0 drawn game in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
It was a game the Hunters fairly outplayed the Phobians and created more decent chances as they aimed at redeeming the 6-1 humiliation they suffered at the venue last season.
Augustine Okrah almost fired Bechem ahead as early as the 12th minute when he darted a great ball aiming for the far right bottom corner but in-form Richmond Ayi shifted to his right to calmly collect the ball with a routine shape.
The Hunters displayed the same dose of venom on the 24th-minute mark when Okrah once again fired at goal but, was once again stopped by Ayi.
Hearts’ brightest spot in the first-half arrive on the 32nd minute when Gladson Awako played through Isaac Mensah inside the area but the young striker fired wide.
Goalkeeper Benjamin Mensah replaced the injured Richmond Ayi moments later.
Awako repeated the act 4 minutes later when his carefully weighted pass met the run of Salifu Ibrahim but the midfielder was unlucky with his effort.
Kofi Kordzi tried his luck with a shot from a distance from a free-kick but the ball sailed wide into the stands.
Bechem nearly snatched the winner on the brink of full time when Clinton Duodu calibrated a low ball to Hafiz Konkoni but Ben Mensah rushed out of his area to stop the ball with his feet.
None of the teams could claim the ultimate before the 90 minutes petered out.
Hearts remain in a mid-table spot with 14 points though, the Phobians have 2 outstanding games. Bechem is in 4th place with 18 points.
