Bankroller of Division One League side, Skyy FC, Hon. Wilson Arthur has claimed there are more violent centers in Zone 2 despite his side’s calamitous conduct on Sunday.

Fans at the Wassa East District capital mercilessly beat officials of fellow club Samartex, leaving many injured while damaging the bus of the visiting team in the process.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has banned the St Martins School Park in Daboase indefinitely with immediate effect following Sunday’s riotous incident which saw fans attack players and officials of Samartex before, during, and after a league game.

The incident has called into question fans’ behaviour at match centers as well as security structures and arrangement to protect officials and the main actors (players) during games.

In the heat of the unfortunate incident, the bankroller, who is also the government’s Commissioner for National Development Planning Commission NDPC at the Wassa East Municipality, has claimed there are more violent centers in Zone 2 than in Daboase.

“I want you to conduct research and find out which center is the most violent in Zone 2. Just engage club administrators who operate in Zone 2 and you will find out,” he quizzed Enoch Worlanyo on Asempa FM’s SportsNite show.

“I will have a meeting with the Ghana FA hierarchy tomorrow. I believe that after briefing them with the true picture of what actually took place, they will review their decision to ban the center indefinitely,” he added.

A Ghana FA statement released on Monday reads: “The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has banned the St Martins School park, Daboase indefinitely with immediate effect. This decision was taken following assaults on the Officials and Players of FC Samartex 1996 by the home supporters in the Division zone League match between Skyy FC and FC Samartex on Sunday, April 3, 2022. The Competitions Department of the GFA will now fix the venues for the upcoming home matches of Skyy Fc with due regard to the distance to be travelled by the away teams.”
