Zinedine Zidane has turned down an opportunity to become the manager of Ligue 1 champions PSG, according to French journalist Julien Maynard.
Maynard is the journalist who correctly predicted that Kylian Mbappe has chosen to renew his contract with PSG and rejected Real Madrid’s offer to join the club.
According to the journalist, Zidane values his loyalty to Real Madrid and Olympique Marseille and would not like to get into the brewing tension that is ensuing among the clubs.
There’s a lot of money involved, obviously, and PSG would’ve paid Zidane a handsome amount, but Zidane is loyal to Real Madrid and his hometown.
Marseille is PSG’s arch-rivals. Zidane never played for Marseille – it’s one of his few regrets as a player – but he was from the city, and he loves it, so I highly doubt he would disrespect his own ethics and loyalty for a bag of money.
It was speculated that Zidane was among the key influencers PSG used to convince Mbappe to remain in the French top-flight league. However, the latest action from the World Cup winner has dismissed those claims.
