Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Cody Gakpo is now the leading scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie as he bagged his 7th league goal of the season in PSV Eindhoven’s 1-0 win over RKC Waalwijk on Sunday.
Gakpo, 23, left it late to strike home from the penalty spot to seal the win for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men.
The visitors had made things tight for the 24-time league champions leaving the game to travel deep into added-time before the intelligent forward struck the winner for his side.
Sunday’s goal means the lanky striker has now scored 7 league goals and provided 3 assists.
He has scored 9 goals in all competitions this season for PSV.
Former Ghana coach James Kwasi Appiah had revealed in an interview that Gakpo was willing to represent Ghana at senior level but the West Africans couldn’t pursue his nationality switch.
