Former Hearts of Oak attacker Mohammed Gado has alleged that Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku, denied him his $50,000 signing-on fee.
According to the 37-year-old, he was never given his share of the signing-on fee when he moved to the Israeli lower-tier side Maccabi Herzliya F.C in 2008.
Gado, who is a brother of former Ghana FA Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara, signed for the Phobians on loan from Tema Youth but had to immediately join Herzliya on another short-term deal.
The former Ghana U17 attacker moved to the club together with the late Charles Vardis and according to him, he never got paid for his services.
“When I joined Hearts of Oak it was Eyal Lachman who was the head of Hearts at the time. It was Kurt Okraku who brought him. And, also brokered the deal which led to my transfer to Israel,” he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah in an interview.
“After playing there for some months, I had not received any money so I asked about it and I was told that the amount which was $50,000 had been paid to Kurt Okraku. I tried everything possible to retrieve the money including coming down to Ghana. But, he never gave me the money,” he added.
