Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey miss out on top 10 shortlist for CAF player of the year

Thomas Partey and Jordan Ayew could not make the ten shortlisted players for the 2019 Africa player of the year.

The two had previously made a 30-man shortlist but failed to break into the top 10.

Reigning Africa player of the year Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, who finished fourth in the FIFA Ballon d’or, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyung, Andre Onana, Hakim Ziyach, Riyad Mahrez,Ismael Bennacer, Kalidou Koulibaly, Odiong Ighalo and Yousif Balaili were the ten shortlisted players for the award.

The exemption of Partey and Ayew means Ghana will have to wait a little longer to have a player win the Africa Footballer of the year award.

Ex-Black Stars captain Abedi Pele was the last Ghanaian to win the top award picking it in 1993.
